“Travel improves the mind wonderfully and does away with all one’s prejudices” (from The Happy Prince and Other Tales ), Oscar Wilde wrote. This celebrated Dubliner’s words are really suitable to describe the great study tour two groups of 33 students each from 3A, 3B, 3D, 3M, 3N, 3S had in Ireland from September 7th to the 13th and then from September 16th to the 22nd with the teachers Monica Cavallo, Laura Levratto, Laura Martinengo, Maria Rosa Mellano, Marina Pesce.
Everybody enjoyed the native teachers’ classes at Gorey School of English where we were also offered an Irish birds of prey performance, touching hawks and owls, protagonists of unusual selfies! While in the morning students improved their English skills at school, in the afternoon they had the opportunity to visit some of the landmarks of Wexford county, in the south east area of Ireland: the beautiful mansion of Powerscourt with its stunning gardens (where a movie was being filmed!!) and its fascinating waterfall, the leisure park “The Pirates’cove” in the lovely seaside village of Courtown and the amazing capital city Dublin, whose main highlights were shown and explained by two excellent tourguides.
Could we miss the chance to experience authentic Irish dancing and music? Of course not. Bowling and shopping were other favourite activities. The native families were so enthusiastic about our students that some lifelong friendships were certainly born. Ready for next year?
